D-Day Commemoration Service

13th of June, 2024

On behalf of the War Memorial Committee I wish to thank all the Councillors, Clergy, Schools and residents who attended the 80th Anniversary commemoration of 80th Anniversary of D-Day service at the War Memorial yesterday afternoon. It was a privilege to see veterans in attendance as we gave thanks for those who have sacrificed their lives in defence of the freedoms in this country that we hold so dear. A special thanks goes our to Rev Philip Venables who led the service and to Chorley Silver Band who played the hymns and National Anthem so beautifully.

I have put up some commemorative plaques on the lamp posts near the War Memorial site. So we can continue to think about the D-Day Normandy landings for a few more days.....From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same...their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
